DMITRIEV Nikolay Vsevolodovich (1856-1918), architect. Graduated from the Construction School (1876). In 1885-1903, he worked as an architect for the Gatchina Palace Administration and for the town of Gatchina, where he erected the Church of All Russian Saints (Solodukhina Street, 1889), court stables (2 Andreya Grigorina Street, 1890-1893), the conservatories (3-9 Krasnoarmeisky Avenue, 1896), and a school (2 Chkalova Street, 1898-1900). In St. Petersburg, he erected a number of apartment houses in the late Eclectic style (37 Marata Street, 1881; 18 Kutuzova Embankment, 1885-1886; 56 Tchaikovsky Street, 1897; 21 Zakharyevskaya Street, 1898), a theatre at the Demidov Garden (1882, not preserved), the Court Clergy Charitable House for Widows and Orphans (1 Chernyshevskogo Avenue,1887-1889), a number of industrial structures, the A.F. Marx Memorial Publishing House building, with living quarters and a gymnasium (29 Izmailovsky Avenue, 1898-1900), the M.I. Tomilin apartment house (32 Sadovaya Street, 1903-1906, an important example of the Art Nouveau style), the Gavansky Workers' Town complex (69 and 71 Maly Avenue of Vasilievsky Island; 47 Gavanskaya Street, 1904-1906), and the House of Educational Institutions in Memory of 19 February 1861 (181 Obvodny Canal Embankment, 1911-1912). He owned two apartment houses built according to his designs (1910, 34 Tchaikovsky Street; 1 Fifth Krasnoarmeiskaya Street, 1892). Dmitriev headed the Society of Civil Engineers (1894-1905), was a member of the City Duma, and headed the Association for the Creation of Needed Housing, and the Society of City-Gardens.
