PERETYATKOVICH, Marian Marianovich (1872-1916), architect, associate academy member of architecture (1912). Graduated from the Institute of Communications Engineering (1901) and St. Petersburg Academy of Arts (1906). Completed the construction of the Roman Catholic Church of the French Embassy. His projects encompass the memorial church of Christ the Saviour Church (not intact), done in Neo-Renaissance style, apartment building of Salamander Insurance Company (4 Gorokhovaya Street, 1908-09, with contribution of architect N.N. Verevkin), the Bank of M.I. Wawelberg (7-9 Nevsky Prospect, 1911-12) and the Russian Commerce and Industry Bank (15 Bolshaya Morskaya Street, 1912-14). The granite-clad bank facades suggest austere monumentality (sculptor, sculptor-decorator L.A. Dietrich and V.V. Kozlov). A unique visualisation of classical form is a distinctive trait of the Department of City Establishments (49 Kronverksky Avenue), Sanctuary for boys of the Roman Catholic Charity Society (19 Kirillovskaya Street, 1912-13), houses of the Ministry for Commerce and Industry (8 Makarova Embankment, 1914-15). Peretyatkovich engaged in the theory of city planning, was the first to deliver lectures on the fundamentals of city planning at the Academy of Arts, co-authered the Project on revitalization of St. Petersburg (1910-12, under the guidanceship of architects F.E. Enakiev and L.N. Benois).
