MONASTYRSKY BRIDGE (formerly Blagoveshchensky), over the Monastyrka River (hence the name), along Obukhovskoy Oborony Avenue. In 1833, a single-span timber arch bridge on abutments with a limestone and granite facade was built (engineer P.P. Bazen) above the former timber bridge. In 1926-27, it was replaced with a reinforced concrete single-span spandrel arch bridge (engineers B.D. Vasilyev, O.E. Bugaeva). During the re-planting of the territory in front of Alexander Nevsky Bridge, the Monastyrsky Bridge was dismantled. In 1961-64, a girder bridge from prestressed reinforced concrete was built downstream (engineer А.D. Gutzeit, architect L.А. Noskov). Length: 39.9 metres, width: 34 metres. Upstream the Monastyrka River the Obukhovskoy Oborony Bridge with a similar construction was built in 1963-64. Length: 34.2 metres, width: 46.5 metres.
