UTEMAN Franz Frantsevich (1868-1925), entrepreneur, Actual Civil Counsellor. He was a son of a German who opened an agency business in St. Petersburg in 1867. After graduating from St. Petersburg University with a major in law, Uteman served in the Ministry of Finance in 1892-96. An entrepreneur from the late 1890s, he was a member of managing boards at eight large industrial enterprises including Treugolnik Partnership of the Russian-American Rubber Manufacture, Bavaria Brewery, and Skorokhod Factory. He was also a member of the Council of St. Petersburg Discount and Loan Bank and the Council of Congresses of Industry and Trade Representatives. Owner of ten apartment houses, he lived at 31 Nikolaevskaya Embankment (today, Lieutenant Schmidt Embankment).
