MOZHAYSKY, a former urban settlement, known as Duderhof until 1950; incorporated in 1973 into the Krasnoselsky District of Leningrad. Located 30 kilometres southwest of the city centre, between Krasnoe Selo and Taytsy on the western bank of Lake Dudergofskoe, with areas stretching along the slopes of Voronya Mountain. There is also a railway station called Mozhaysky. As of 2002, the population count was approximately 1,000 inhabitants. Known as Dudorovo starting in the 15th century, and later as Duderhof, the settlement was renamed in honour of A. F. Mozhaysky. After the Krasnoe Selo - Gatchina railway was completed in 1872; the locality became a popular summer cottage area, and was also called Gorskaya in the late 19th - early 20th century. In the fall of 1941, the Duderhof surroundings saw fierce battles. Present-day Mozhaysky includes the Nagorny Park (late 18th century - early 19th century), a railway station building (1890, architect S. P. Lazarev-Stanishchev), the Verlandera Mineral Waters Pavillion (in second half of the 19th century, at 15 Avenue of October 25), handicap houses (1879-83) and St. George Hospital Nurses' Commune (1901-02), (99-105 Avenue of 25 October).
