SREDNYAYA ROGATKA, the historical name of the area where Pulkovskoe Freeway and Moskovskoe Freeway intersect. In the 18th-19th centuries, an outpost was located there and the road was blocked with rogatka (turnpike) at night (hence the name). There was also Blizhnyaya (Close) Rogatka (at the intersection of Moskovsky Avenue and Ligovsky Avenue) and Dalnyaya (Remote) Rogatka (at the fork of Pulkovskoe Freeway and the road to Tsarskoe Selo at Pulkovo heights). In 1962, the square of Srednyaya Rogatka was renamed Pobedy Square.
