RUCHYI, an area to the north-east of St. Petersburg, to the north of Piskarevka. It was named after a village located on the banks of Murinsky Stream (the site where it intersects present-day Grazhdansky Avenue) from the late 18th century to the 1970s. In the 1920s, Ruchyi Shunting Loop was constructed on the railway line to Priozersk (at that time it went as far as Vaskelovo), to the south of Murinsky Stream, it quite rapidly evolved into a large railway station. In the early 1950s, Ruchyi Sovkhoz (state farm) was arranged to the east of the station, with separated residential blocks developed around it.
