50TH ANNIVERSARY OF OCTOBER MEMORIAL PARK is located in the north-east of St. Petersburg, in Polyustrovo, between Metallistov Avenue, Revolyutsii Highway and Marshala Tukhachevskogo Street. The total area of the park is 32 hectares. The park was laid out in 1966-86 on the location of old residential buildings and a refuse tip (architects O. N. Bashinsky, T. I. Sholokhova). The first part of the park was opened in 1973, its planning is regular. There is a broad alley with a flower garden along the axis in the park. Separate parts of the park are designed in landscape planning. There are two ponds, a round pond and a square pond surrounded with broad-leaved trees and nice paths. Linden, ashes, birches, willows, larches prevail among the trees. Lilacs, dog rose, Forsythia prevail among the bushes. Flower beds are mainly formed by perennials flowering one after another in summer. The park is a place for rest and entertainment. There are well equipped playgrounds in the park.
