Categories / City Topography/Waterways and Currents/Straits, Channels

Kronverksky Strait (Crownwork Strait) is a bow-shaped channel of the Neva River dividing Petrogradsky and Zayachiy Islands. It is over 1 km long, about 50 meters wide and up to 4 meters deep. The Crownwork is located at the Strait's right bank (hence the name) and the Peter and Paul Fortress is on its left bank. The Strait is spanned with Ioannovsky Bridge at its head and Kronverksky Bridge at its mouth. The strait's right bank with the Kornverksky Embankment running along it is enforced with granite. There is a helicopter ground for flights over the city. Next to it are located the Zoo and Alexandrovsky Park.
