MILITARY COLLEGIUM, a central government institution, army headquarters. Founded in 1719. The collegium occupied various buildings in the Admiralteyskaya and Liteinaya sections of the city; aside from this, a part of the Twelve Collegiums Building was meant for the Military Collegium, though in 1737-44 it accommodated only the Archive of Settled Cases. In 1802, the Military Collegium formed a part of the Ministry of War, and was abolished in 1806.
