METOCHION OF KONEVETS MONASTERY. The Neo-Byzantine building erected at Bolshaya Okhta in 1906-08, located at 21 Sredneokhtinsky Avenue (architect N.N. Nikonov), included a three-aisle Holy Assumption Church built in the Russian style. In the late 1920s the metochion was closed and soon taken down; an apartment house was built in its place. In 1821-22, a small Chapel of the Our Lady of Konevets was erected at 7 Zagorodny Avenue by an unknown architect, which was extended and rebuilt in the so-called Russo-Byzantine style (architect I.B. Slupsky) in 1864-66. A revered copy of the icon belonging to the monastery was stored in the chapel. In 1919, the chapel was transformed into a parish church, in 1932 it was closed, and its interior was reconstructed. In the summer of 1993 the chapel was returned to the restored monastery; it has been functioning as a church since 1997.
