RIMSKY-KORSAKOV MEMORIAL MUSEUM APARTMENT (28 Zagorodny Avenue, flat 39) is a branch of St. Petersburg State Museum of Theatre and Music Art. It was opened in 1971 with the support of Rimsky-Korsakov family. The museum is located in the flat where the composer moved in 1893 and where he spent the last 15 years of his life. It was here that Rimsky-Korsakov composed 11 operas, including Sadko, Golden Cockerel and Fairy Tale of Tsar Saltan. The flat served as a music centre of St. Petersburg. M. A. Vrubel, S. V. Rachmaninov, V. A. Serov, A. N. Skryabin, V. V. Stasov, I. F. Stravinsky, and F. I. Chaliapin attended Korsakov's Wednesdays. The decor of the end of the 19th - beginning of the 20th century was restored in four memorial rooms (an antechamber, a living room, a dining room and a study). Presents to the composer, including the congratulatory address for the 35th anniversary of the composer's creative career decorated by Vrubel, portraits of his relatives and friends, sketches of interior decorations, and theatre costumes are on display. There is a music hall for 50 seats at the museum. The tradition of Korsakov's Music Wednesdays continues to this day.
