RODICHEV Fedor Izmailovich (1854, St. Petersburg - 1933), public and political figure. On graduating from the First St. Petersburg Vocational Gymnasium (1870) he studied at the Department of Natural History in the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics, then at the Faculty of Law of St. Petersburg University, graduating in 1876. From 1877, he worked in the local self-Government and served as elector from nobility in Tver Province. From 1896, he practised as a defence attorney in St. Petersburg. He was exiled from the capital for the protest against the punishment of 4 March 1901 demonstration participants (see Kazanskie Demonstrations). Later Rodichev lived in Switzerland and was one of the founders of the Union of Liberation. In 1904, he came back to St. Petersburg, in November 1905, he entered the Constitutional Democratic Party and from 1906 he was a member of its Central Committee. He was a Deputy of the First, Second, Third and Fourth State Dumas, winning elections to the Third Duma and the Fourth Duma from St. Petersburg, and showed himself to be a leading parliament speaker. In March through May 1917, he was a commissar of the Provisional Government in the affairs of Finland. In August 1917 he supported General L.G. Kornilov, and in October 1917 became a member of the Provisional Council of the Russian Republic (the Provisional Parliament), a Deputy of the Constitutional Assembly. After the murder of M.S. Uritsky he was arrested but soon he was set free. From Autumn 1918, he was in the South of Russia, participating in the White Movement. From 1922, he lived in Switzerland. He is an author of memoirs Memoirs and Essays About the Russian Liberalism (Newtonwille, 1983).
