EVDOKIMOV Nikolay Alexandrovich (1909-1938), pilot, parachutist, captain (1937). Graduated from the Aviation School (1930). Served in the 1st Special Operations Squadron in Gatchina. Was the first man in Russia to perform a delayed drop (22.5.1932; 600 m of free-falling for 14 seconds), held a world record in delayed drops (16.6.1934; 7900 m in 142 seconds). Founder of sport parachuting. Died in an aeroplane accident, while testing. Buried in the old city cemetery in Gatchina. His house has a memorial plaque (Gatchina, 8/10Gorky Street).
