VLADIMIRSKY Lev Anatolyevich (1903-1973), Admiral (1941), Candidate of Naval Sciences (1970). Graduated from the Naval Academy in Leningrad (1925, 47 Lieutenant Schmidt Embankment; memorial plaque), completed the artillery class of the Special courses for the Naval Forces of the Red Army Revolutionary Committee (1927), Academic courses for Commanding Officers at Voroshilov Naval Academy (1947), Naval Department of Voroshilov Higher Naval Academy (1952). In 1925-38 served in the Black Sea Fleet. In 1938-39 commanded a detachment of hydrographic ships, and launched a crossing voyage from Leningrad to Vladivostok. In 1939-43 was appointed commander of a ship squadron of the Black Sea Fleet, (promoted to Vice-Admiral in 1942), for incompetent carrying out of the operation in October 1943 was downgraded to the rank of Rear Admiral and appointed commander of a ship squadron of the Baltic Fleet. Participated in the Vyborg assault operation (1944). In 1947-59 served as Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, chairman of the Naval Scientific Technical Committee. Started teaching in 1959 (including being on faculty of the Naval Academy). Retired in May 1970.
