MILITARY COMMUNICATIONS UNIVERSITY (MCU) (3 Tikhoretsky Avenue) is a higher military educational institution. It prepares command and engineer personnel for the signal troops. It was founded in Sergiev Posad of the Moscow Province in 1919 as the Military High School of Electrical Engineering (from 1921 - the Military Electrical Engineering Academy). In 1923, it moved to Petrograd, merging with the Military Engineering Academy and receiving the name of the Military Electrical Engineering Academy. In 1932, it was transformed into the Military Electrical Engineering Academy of Communications (in 1933 it was named after Marshal of the Soviet Union S.M. Budenny), it took on the name of the Military Academy of Communications in 1946. In 1999, it received its current name. The university is situated in a building, which was constructed for the purpose in the 1930s (architect N.F. Brovkin).

Tikhoretsky Avenue

TIKHORETSKY AVENUE, called Benua Avenue from 1909 to 1952, from Gidrotekhnikov Street to Severny Avenue. The avenue was laid in the early 20th century within the limits of Sosnovka and named after architect Y.Y
