GOLDEN ANCHOR (7 6th Line of Vasilievsky Island). A restaurant opened in 1823, shortly afterwards becoming the favourite establishment of artists, students and lecturers from the Academy of Arts, located nearby. Annually, graduation festivities of the Academy of Arts were arranged at the Golden Anchor. Among the habitues was painter and pedagogue P.P. Chistyakov. In the late 19th century, the Golden Anchor was closed down; today the building houses the Vasileostrovsky District Department of Improvements. In St. Petersburg of the 19th - beginning of the 20th centuries, there were five taverns under this name.
