PRESNYAKOV Alexander Evgenievich (1870-1929, Leningrad), historian, collegiate member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (1920). He came to St. Petersburg in 1889 and entered the faculty of history and philology of the University of St. Petersburg, which he graduated from in 1893. Then he taught at many higher and secondary educational establishments in St. Petersburg, including the University of St. Petersburg, where he was engaged in 1907 and promoted to a professor in 1918, Women's Pedagogical Institute and the Institute of Archaeology (dean of the Archaeographic Faculty). From 1921 to 1925, he headed the Scientific Research Institute for History of Petrograd University and then directed the work of the Leningrad section of the Institute of History of the Russian Association of Scientific Research Institutes for Social Sciences (1927-28). His major works are dedicated to the history of the ancient Russian state and law, Russian chronicles and the political history of Russia of the first half of the 19th century. In the 1920s Presnyakov lived at 11 Nadezhdinskaya Street. He was buried at Nikolskoe cemetery of Alexander Nevsky Lavra.
