MOSIN Sergey Ivanovich (1849-1902) was a designer of arms, Major-General (1900). He graduated from Mikhailovskaya Artillery Academy (1875). Mosin headed the Sestroretsk Arms Plant (1894-1902). In 1890, he invented a multishot rifle, which was used by the Russian and Soviet armies over a long period of time. Mosin’s work has had a profound impact on Russian arms manufacturing. He was buried in Sestroretskoe Cemetery. A street in Sestroretsk was named after him (former Krestovskaya Street). A monument to him was unveiled in 2001 (sculptor B. A. Petrov, architect A. G. Bakusov).
