USTINOV BALTIC STATE TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY (Military Mechanical Institute), located at 1 First Krasnoarmeiskaya Street. The history of the university dates back to the Tsesarevitch Nikolay Vocational School established in 1875. It became the Petrograd Technical College in May 1917. It was renamed the First Petrograd Mechanical Technical School in 1921. In 1930, the Mechanical Technical School became the Mechanical Institute. In 1932, it was renamed the Military Mechanical Institute. In 1959, it was transformed into the Leningrad Mechanical Institute. In 1984, the institute was named after its graduate Marshal of the Soviet Union D. F. Ustinov. It received its present-day name in 1992. Many of the pioneers of Russian rocket technology, in addition to cosmonauts G. M. Grechko, S. K. Krikalev studied at the Baltic State Technical University. In 2002, the Baltic State Technical University consisted of the following faculties: the Faculty of Aircraft Jet Production; The Aerospace Faculty; the Faculty of Physics and Mechanics; the Faculty of Arms and Armament Systems; the Faculty of Information and Control Systems, the Faculty of Mechatronics and Control, the Faculty of Applied Mechanics and Automation, the Faculty of Physics and Radial Energy, the Faculty of Laser Beam Technologies and Technics, the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of International Industrial Management, the Faculty for Distance Education, Nevsky Territory Faculty and the Faculty of Military Education.
