BOLOTOV Vasily Vasilievich (1854-1900, St. Petersburg), theologian, church historian, Doctor of Theology (honoris causa, 1896), associate of St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences (1893). After graduating from St. Petersburg Theological Academy in 1879, he was Professor of Ancient General Church History at the Academy. From 1892, Bolotov served as a member of the Old Catholic commission. In 1899, he became a member of the Commission of Calendar Reform in the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences. Bolotov wrote over 30 works on the history of the Middle East, on the history of the church, church dogma, etc. His Lectures on the History of the Ancient Church, published posthumously by A.I. Brilliantov (Part 1-4, 1907-18), became widely renowned. Bolotov lived at 182 Nevsky Prospeсt. He was buried at Nikolsky Cemetery of Alexander Nevsky Lavra.
