FOMIN Igor Ivanovich (1904-1989, Leningrad), an architect, People's Architect of the USSR (1971), Corresponding Member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR (1979). Son of I.A. Fomin. Graduated from the Academy of Arts in Leningrad (1926), Professor of Architecture, headed a studio, Academician (1956). From 1940, lectured in the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. An author of large public and residential buildings: in the 1930s, constructed the building of Moskovsky District Soviet (129 Moskovsky Avenue), Apartment Houses at 8 Petrovskaya Embankment and 13 Karpovka River Embankment, building of Volodarsky District Soviet (163 Obukhovskoy Oborony Avenue); in the 1950s - Okhtenskaya Prorezka, Apartment Houses at 15 and 17 Suvorovsky Avenue, reconstruction of the office block at 68 Nevsky Prospect and the Ploschad Vosstaniya metro station. Since the late 1960s he supervised designing and construction of Leningrad State University complex in Old Peterhof. Buried in the Bogoslovskoe Cemetery.
