VASILYEV Alexander Viktorovich (1913-1976, Leningrad), architect, painter, graphic artist. Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts (1938). In the years of the war, he worked as a poster artist for propaganda. His projects of the early 1950s were in the spirit of Neoclassicism and include: the apartment houses at 79-81 Obukhovskoy Oborony Avenue, at 184 Nevsky Prospect, 5 Novgorodskaya Street and the Heating Systems College on the corner Suvorovsky Avenue and Second Sovetskaya Street. He won the Architectural Design Contest (February, 1945) of the memorial ensemble of Piskarevskoye Memorial Cemetery (opened in 1960, in cooperation with E.A. Levinson). He is the author of projects of Sverdlovskaya Embankment ensemble (1969-71), of the Neva pier near Lenina Square (1970), planning and building of the Bolshaya Okhta, Polyustrovo and districts. He was buried at Bogoslovskoe Cemetery.
