DANILEVSKY Nikolay Ivanovich (1849, St. Petersburg - 1929), engineer and entrepreneur. Graduated from St. Petersburg Technological Institute with a major in mechanics in 1869 and stayed on as a lecturer. Working at various plants, he created a number of designs in the field of steam-locomotive building. Danilevsky served as director of Putilovsky Plant in 1891-98 and chairman of its board in 1910-13. During his tenure as the general manager, the enterprise worked intensively on steam-locomotive building and artillery production and relevant engineering offices were established to develop new product samples. The plant area was expanded through acquiring new sites and developing littoral shelves, thus creating conditions for development of shipbuilding. Danilevsky also headed Phoenix Carriage Building and Mechanical Plant and Hartman's Engineering Plant. The permanent chairman of the Board at Prodparovoz Syndicate from 1905, he was actually one of the national industry leaders and was hired by the government to study related issues. He lived abroad after October 1917.
