PUTILOV Alexey Ivanovich (1867 - after 1937), statesman, entrepreneur, financier, Actual Civil Counsellor. Graduating from St. Petersburg University with a law degree in 1889, he served in the Ministry of Finance from 1890, and was a Deputy Minister from 1905. In his capacity as Manager of the Nobility Bank and the Peasants’ Bank, Putilov drew up a project of expanding peasants' land by making landowners sell their estates and resigned in 1906 after Emperor Nicholas II rejected his project. Putilov was a member of the board in the Russian-Chinese Bank from 1905 and the chairman of the bank in 1908-10. After the bank merged with the Northern Bank, he became the head of the newly founded Russian-Asian Bank in 1910-17, which soon ranked first among private Russian banks. He founded the largest monopolies of the country such as the Military Industrial Concern, the Tobacco Trust, and Russian General Oil Company. He served as chairman and board member at numerous industrial enterprises, carriers, and insurance companies, including Putilovsky Plant and Carriage Works in St. Petersburg, Rex Accumulator Works, Siemens-Schuckert Russian Company, a number of tobacco factories, A. F. Marx Publishing House Partnership, and other businesses. He was a member of the Provisional Council of the Russian Republic (Pre-Parliament) in 1917. Putilov lived at 45 Moika Embankment and 15 and 11 Mytninskaya Embankment. He emigrated to France after October 1917.
