KRASOVSKY Mikhail Vasilievich (1851-1911), public and political figure, entrepreneur, privy counsellor (1893). Graduated from the Faculty of Law of Kiev University (1871), from 1872 in St. Petersburg, served at the Senate, Ministry of Justice, State Chancellery, on 1898-1903 was Chief Procurator of the General Council for Appeal of the Senate's Deputies. From 1903 in retirement. In 1905-06 was Chairman of Petersburg City Duma. Initiator of the Petersburg Statesmen Club remained its chairman until his death. At the end of 1905 he was one of the organisers and leaders of the Union of 17 October took part in the development of its programme, was a Comrade (Assistant) of the Chairman of the Union's Central Committee; editor and leading publicist of the party newspaper Novy Put (1906). Since 1906 - member of the State Council elected from Chernigovskoe Zemstvo (administrative district), one of the leaders of the centre's group, actively supported agrarian reforms of P.A. Stolypin. In 1908 Krasovsky became member of the Special Superior Commission for Railway Development, which was a part of the Ministry of Communications. A member of the Board of Volzhsko-Kamsky Bank (from 1908). In the 1900s - a prominent figure in the Pan-Slavism movement, a founding member of the Society of Slavic Reciprocity (1909). Lived at 10 Saperny Lane.
