SHUVALOVO, a locality in the northern part of Saint Petersburg along the banks of Lake Bolshoe (Nizhnee) Suzdalskoe. Shuvalovo is bounded by the Vyborgskoe Highway on the east, adjoining Pargolovo on the north, and Ozerki on the south. Received its name from the estate of Counts Shuvalov (see also, Shuvalovsky Park) located north (now, in the south of Pargolovo). In the late 1870s, after completion of the railway to Vyborg, the land was purchased by the Share Company for Cottage Settlements in Shuvalovo, and built up with summer cottages. In 1963, Shuvalovo became part of Leningrad. The territory is dominated with individual residential houses. The Shuvalovskoe Cemetery is located there. The town's name has been given to its railway station, Shuvalovsky Avenue, and the Shuvalovo - Ozerki Residential District.
