UTKINA ZAVOD, a locality in southeast of Saint Petersburg, on the Neva River's right bank, just above the Utka River Estuary, along the Oktyabrskaya Embankment. Named after the famous manufacturer and landowner, Utkin, when a boat yard was built there in the late 19th century for ship anchorage along the Neva. Since the second half of the 19th century, the territory has predominantly been built up with industrial facilities. Numerous brick and saw mills were located here. In 1922, the first stage of the "Krasny Oktyabr" Heating Station started operating in Utkina Zavod. Today, Utkina Zavod accommodates Heat Station No. 5, a house-building factory, precast foundry works, and the Baltiyskaya Battery Farm.
