Categories / City Topography/Green Areas/Gardens, Orchards

STROGANOVSKY GARDEN is located between Ushakovskaya Embankment and Chernaya Rechka River, near the inflow to the Bolshaya Nevka River. The garden was laid out at the end of the 18th century in the estate of Count A. S. Stroganov, hence the name. Stroganovsky Garden had the length of over a thousand metres and the width of 200 metres. The present-day area is 5.9 hectares. The garden is planned as a landscape estate with a roundish pond and paths surrounded with hardwood. A large building for the Military and Naval Academy was erected to the west of Stroganovsky Garden in 1938-41. Some of the garden remains surrounding the building.
