Prudki, garden

Categories / City Topography/Green Areas/Gardens, Orchards

PRUDKI is a garden in the central part of St. Petersburg, between Ligovsky Avenue, Grechesky Avenue, Nekrasova Street and Prudkovsky Lane. The garden was laid out on the spot of the former ponds which existed at the end of Ligovsky Canal, hence the name of the garden. It is now 300 х 140 metres in size. The garden has landscape planning. There is the Institute of Pulmonology and the Grand Concert Hall Oktyabrsky near the garden. There is a monument to N. A. Nekrasov in the garden (1971, sculptor L. Y. Eidlin, architect V. S. Vasilkovsky), hence the second name of the garden Nekrasovsky Garden.
