SAMSONOVSKY CANAL (Samsonovsky Pipeline), an artificial hydraulic construction, a part of the water supply system of Peterhof fountains and ponds. It starts from Bolshoy Krugly Pond of Meadow (Lake) Park and ends in Colonists Park by Olgin Pond. The system consists of two branches, 1.7 and 1.1 kilometres long: the first was constructed in the first quarter of the 18th century, flows to the east of Olgin Pond, partially tubed in the ponds and fountains supply system of the Upper Park and Lower Park of the Grand Peterhof Palace (including the Grand Cascade with the Samson Fountain - hence the name); the second was built in the middle of the 19th century to supply ponds of Colonists Park. The system has been repeatedly renewed.
